Estonia will hold the presidency of the UN Security Council for the second time in June
Estonia will hold the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for the second time in June. This gives Estonia the opportunity to lead the Security Council's discussions "in a preferred direction on topics that are important to us. In addition, we are ready to respond operational to crises worldwide." Also, the process of electing the UN Secretary-General remains in our Presidency.
In addition to the usual work program, Estonia will be organizing five special events, three of which take place on a high level.
Estonia is organizing following meetings:
June 10 - Discussion on the UN’s cooperation with regional organisations (European Union)
June 16 - Open debate on the working methods of the UN Security Council
June 22 - High level discussion on Afghanistan
June 28 - High-level open meeting on the protection of children in armed conflict
June 29 - High-level open meeting on cybersecurity
You can follow the sessions via UN WebTV:
