Europe Day: Our Europe, Our NATO
Vabaduse väljak 9
10142 Tallinn
Estonia
On the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a major concert will be held again in Tallinn at Vabaduse väljak (Freedom Square) on 9 May or Europe Day, with acts including Tommy Cash, nublu, Gameboy Tetris and Bedwetters. The concert starts at 18.00 and entry is free.
Europe Day is more special this year because Estonia celebrates 20 years as a member of the European Union and NATO. “EU and NATO membership has given us certainty that we are never alone again,” Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said. “I invite everyone to celebrate this seminal anniversary with the concert because belonging to a family of European nations with shared values and goals makes Estonia greater.”
The celebrations at Vabaduse väljak start at 15.00 with the raising of European Union and NATO flags, where members of the government are also invited. The Europe and NATO-themed events area Our Europe, Our NATO opens at 15.00 and features many unique displays. These include representations of embassies of European Union member states, Police and Border Guard Board, Rescue Board, Defence League and Defence Forces of Estonia. A special mention goes to police service dogs who will show off their skills. The European Union marquee hosts the SLAVA Ukraina café with its mission to help Ukraine and Ukrainians.
