Estonia is well-known as an e-country, a digital society, a startup incubator, and a digital leader. Taking Estonia's success and extensive experience as a leading "digitizer" in Europe and the world, as well as foreign governments' growing interest in adapting Estonia's digital solutions, the MDA program addresses the need for modernizing the public sector and equipping civil servants and IT professionals worldwide with the necessary skill set to integrate and implement digitalization strategies in their respective home countries.

The Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at the University of Tartu is proud to present a brand new one-year master's program designed to train top public servants, professionals, and IT specialists around the world. Led by expert lecturers who are also start-up managers, entrepreneurs, and researchers, this program is designed to train leaders in driving comprehensive digitalization in the public sector. In addition, we bring together the experiences and cases of other countries in order to provide as diverse an overview as possible and to offer tools and skills for managing the various challenges of the digital society.

The former President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, is a leading supporter and visiting lecturer of the Master of Digital Administration curriculum, and he has made significant contributions to Estonia's image as a digital country. The program begins with an optional week-long in-person meeting in Estonia at the end of August and culminates with a capstone project presentation to an international committee in June. All other coursework is fully online, with real-time meetings held once a week on Thursdays for six hours.

Upon graduating from the MDA program, the students will have a comprehensive digitalization toolbox and a network of expert colleagues in the field. In addition, the students have quick access to possible partners in Estonia. The admission period for this program runs from 2 January 2023 and to 15 March 2023.

If any of you would like to share your thoughts on any of the topics (experiences from other countries, the most telling developments in Estonia, potential guest lecturers, etc.), please do so. We would also be grateful if someone could financially support the development of the new study materials.
