EstoCast: Mari Kalkun’s Ancient and Modern Musical Meditations

Estonian Music Week 2023 (EMW) is fast approaching- this year's festival will take place from May 24th to 28th in two locations, Toronto and Hamilton.

EMW is a project by Estonian Museum Canada / VEMU. EMW’s mission is to showcase the high caliber and creative diversity of Estonian and Estonian-Canadian artists and to create a space for collaboration between Estonian and Canadian artists. 

EMW 2023 performer Mari Kalkun has been described as a folklorist, storyteller, and sorceress.

In a new episode of the EstoCast podcast, hosted by Vincent Teetsov, Mari was asked about specific stories, folklore, and magic that her music has been guided by.
