Edgar Marten: 1920 (Neeme) - 2020 (Toronto)
Toronto Eesti kogukond on kaotanud ühe oma armastatud juhi ja kogukonna asutaja.
Edgar Marteni elutööks oli eesti keele ja isamaa-armastuse kasvatamine.
Tema visioon ja visadus aitasid säilitada eesti keelt ja kultuuri uude riiki asumise rasketel algusaastatel.
Edgar oli Toronto Eesti täienduskeskkooli direktor 43 aastat. Läbi sihikindluse ja pühendumuse lõi ta kooli hariduse õppekava ja näitas teed selle lõplikus edus. Toronto koolis õppis üle 3000 eesti noore, et õppida eesti keelt, osaleda selle kultuuris ja õppida tundma riigi keerukat ja sageli traagilist ajalugu.

Edgar Marten: 1920 (Neeme) - 2020 (Toronto)
The Toronto Estonian community has lost one of its beloved leaders and founders.
Edgar Marten's life's work was to cultivate the Estonian language and love of the homeland.
His vision and tenacity helped sustain the Estonian language and culture in the difficult early years of settlement in a new country.
Edgar was principal of the Toronto Estonian Supplementary Secondary School for 43 years. Through determination and commitment, he created the school’s education curriculum and led the way in its ultimate success. Over 3,000 Estonian youth attended the school in Toronto to study the Estonian language, participate in its culture and learn about the country’s complex and often tragic history.
