The application round for supporting the studies of expatriate Estonians is open
Education and Youth Board of Estonia announces the language studies application round of 2022 for the scholarship program aimed at supporting the studies of expatriate Estonians in Estonia. The deadline for submitting applications is May 20th.
The Expatriate Estonians program awards scholarships in two categories:
- the scholarship for Estonian language studies,
- the scholarship for formal studies at the level of vocational or higher education in curriculum taught in Estonian.
At the moment we accept the applications for Estonian language studies. The application round for the formal studies scholarships is open in the summer, from June 15th to July 15th.
The scholarship includes:
- basic monthly scholarship of 350 euros during the study period,
- travel grant (travel expenses for travelling home and back twice a year),
- the study expenses for the language courses (up to 2400 euros),
- state fee for residence permit and health insurance, if necessary.
The scholarship is available for Estonian expatriates with secondary or higher education or its equivalent, who have not lived in Estonia permanently for at least ten years (except if they have moved to Estonia during the year preceeding the application).
NB! We kindly ask the applicants from Russia to make sure before sending the application if they will be given permit to enter the country. The scholarship will not guarantee the visa or residence permit.
The applicants have to find and registrate to the courses themselves. Suitable options are higher education institutions (e.g Estonian Preparation Year or intensive course in University of Tartu) or other licensed institutions. The candidates who use the additional language learning opportunities (like e-courses Keeleklikk and Keeletee, Integratsiooni Sihtasutus’ Estonian Language Houses) are preferred.
The application must be submitted via electronic application system (https://taotlused.edu.ee) no later than May 20th (until 11.59 PM).
